Hi Michael,

yeah probably, you might have to apply a mask to the layer that is used for the lights, but technically it shouldnt be a problem. Question is though that with the new flash player if you still need to fake this effect using displacement maps, or if you should just create a mesh with a light on it in away3d or alternativa (or on your own, although how is beyond me:)).

Thank you for posting this. I was wondering why my JSFL scripts weren't working. To fix I went into the main folder properties and checks enable indexing for all folders and sub folders...then my scripts worked again!

Thanks for this usefull class :)!
However, I just added thoses lines in the paint method :

 _matrix.tx = _matrix.tx % _width;
 _matrix.ty = _matrix.ty % _height;

Indeed, there's a really short limitation due to bitmapFill (i guess), if you go over something like 32.000, the scroll freezes. The matrix.tx value still grows but the scrolling is locked.
Adding those lines prevents from that easily :)

Thanks for this neat scrolling solution !

Hi Joe,

I mailed you a couple of weeks ago, did you get that email? The error lies in the front face detection and I've mailed you a patch.

Hans,

Thanks so much for posting the code and detailed explanation! I'm in a similar boat where I'm helping a client create an AS2 panorama. I've increased the size of the window significantly as it's going to be used in a touchscreen kiosk, but we're noticing that sometimes a face of the cube goes "blank" at certain angles - so you see a rectangular white area (typically on the left side of the window).

I'm still reading and absorbing all the information in your blog posts, but if you could point me in the direction of where you think the bug might lie (something with the clipping I'm guessing) it would be much appreciated. As I don't need hotspots or dynamic loading, I used the code from this post.

Thanks!

I found the solution. In the 'grab' function of the WrappingBitmap, I needed this before the draw call:

lResult.fillRect(lResult.rect, 0x0);

Thanks again.

Great info, thanks.

The one thing I found is that the graphics.clear() function doesn't clear the beginBitmapFill() from the previous call.

If you have an image with sections that are totally transparent, they don't get cleared out and you can see the old positions in the updated position (they bleed through).

Any thoughts? Thanks again.
